Challenge America is a national initiative to provide support to our country's returning wounded military. The initiative's mission is to work with communities across the United States in linking new and existing services and supporting the development of recreational and occupational programs to better serve returning injured military and their families. Challenge America was officially launched by Amy Grant and Vince Gill at a star-studded concert event to honor wounded warriors in Washington, DC, on June 8, 2009.
Challenge America is an outgrowth of Challenge Aspen, a non-profit organization that has provided adaptive recreation for people with disabilities since 1995. In recent years, programs have been implemented specifically to offer hope and a new way of life to newly injured service men and women returning from current areas of conflict. In 2008, a new division called C.A.M.O. (Challenge Aspen Military Opportunities) was formed within Challenge Aspen to focus on the continuation and further development of these programs.
Now is the time. The challenges are great. The possibilities are greater.
Accept the challenge.
