MSI Spotlight: Angela Hamon

MSI Member Spotlight creates an opportunity to slow down and really get to know the women who make the MSI community the special place that it is. Behind every Sister is a story, a journey, and a whole lot of heart. This feature highlights one of our MSI Sister - her path, her passions, and the experiences that have shaped who she is today.

Name:
Angela Hamon

Bio:
I graduated Defense Language Institute as the youngest student. I had a baby on Ft Ord and today,  I'm a proud vet and grandma. I’m a member of His Glory Search Rescue and Aid Team in Texas, serving in logistics.

What are you most proud of?:
My grand baby.

How do you celebrate your happiness and success?:
Crochet. For every occasion I make hats, bedspread and flower arrangements. I'd like to raise awareness of parkinson's.

What is something you are currently working towards?:
My first craft sale since pre covid.

What shows, movies, books, podcasts, games, experiences or other forms of leisure you'd recommend for your fellow MSI Sisters?:
I recommend finding ways to stay as active as you can. For those of us who have trouble waking it can be a challenge, but a rich life is still out there! Find love and happiness.

What are your favorite foods?:
All of them! I really like Indian food.

What is one fun fact about you?:
I can still go use commissary but it's a 2 hour drive. I'm crazy about coupons!

What does MSI mean to you?:
It's a place to call home! I'm so grateful that there's a place to call our own. This is the most inclusiveness I've seen in a military or Veteran organization.

What words of inspiration do you have for your fellow MSI sisters?:
Be true to yourself and don’t be afraid to try a new way of thinking or doing things.

One of the most important parts of a community, a sisterhood, and a strong and unbreakable friendship is the mutual exchange of stories and experiences. There are many experiences that are unique to who women Veterans are, what they have endured, and survived.

The Military Sisterhood Initiative's goal is to build a community that fights together, laughs together, cries together, and heals together; therefore, we have taken the initiative to tell the stories of women Veterans through our Sister Diaries.
