Veterans Day 2023

Nov 11, 2023

Today and every day, we honor you

Today and every day, we honor and remember the sacrifices made by our Veterans and service members in defending our freedom. These brave individuals have selflessly put their lives on the line for our country and for the ideals we hold dear. Whether serving on the frontlines or supporting operations from afar, each and every member of the military plays a vital role in keeping us safe. So on this holiday and throughout the year, let us take a moment to thank our Veterans for their service and dedication. Our gratitude is eternal and cannot fully express the appreciation we have for their sacrifice. Thank you, Veterans, for everything you do to protect us and preserve our way of life. We honor and salute you today and always.

Our communities, CAVARTS and Military Sisterhood Initiative, are filled with incredible people who have spent years in various branches of the military before returning home to civilian life. In CAVARTS, our members bring their talents, passions, and art together to create a vibrant and open space where arts are celebrated. In the Military Sisterhood Initiative, our women Veteran members create a forgiving and friendly space where camaraderie and sisterhood are valued. We are always grateful to have all the incredible people in our communities and look forward to a future where we can grow and bring even more programs to each community.

One of our priorities at Challenge America is creating opportunities for our members – the selfless women and men who have served our country – to share their stories and memories. This year, we have been working on a special project using Kudoboard. We hope this can be a place for all Veterans and service members, along with family and friends, to share stories in whatever way you express yourself. Please join us in showcasing art, photographs, poems, stories, or songs you’ve been working on! Every piece you share goes on a public board that everyone can see and contribute to, and our hope is to create a beautiful kaleidoscope of our Veterans’ lives for everyone to see and reflect upon.

Wishing each of you a wonderful Veterans Day - thank you all for being an integral member of our community, and to our Veterans and service members, thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Makers for Veterans 2021 started on a high note with the final event in a year-long collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs to develop innovative solutions to the most urgent non-clinical challenges facing essential workers on the frontlines of COVID-19. This project produced 50 new products, including a low-cost telehealth case developed by Team HermTac, a portable physical therapy system developed by Team Wareology, and an exciting new wellness monitoring system developed by Team Okaya. These solutions and others keep our frontline workers safe while improving their ability to meet the needs of our most vulnerable friends and neighbors. In recognition of our efforts, the Small Business Administration awarded Challenge America the Lab-to-Market Ecosystem Responder Prize.
