Celebrating World Art Day With Rainy Day Art

Author: Julianna Cooper, Challenge America Program Coordinator

Happy World Art Day! 🎨 🎭 🎶

Day after day, we are absolutely amazed away by the incredible art that you create and share here in the Challenge America community. We’ve said it before, but YOU are what makes our community the place that it is: a space full of art, inspiration, camaraderie, and community. Thank you so much for showing up and sharing your unique creations… I know I’m not alone when I say that I’m continually inspired by your art!

To celebrate World Art Day, and to honor our CAVARTS theme for this month - April Showers - we thought we’d share a variety of “Rainy Day Art!”  We’re going to feature a few infamous pieces of art that spotlight the rain, as well as share a few fun crafts and projects for you to try on a rainy day!  Last but not least - we want to see YOUR rainy day art!  After you peruse the art in this post, we’d love you to share your own pieces of art in the comments section - whether it features rain in the artwork, or was a project you created on a rainy day!

Projects for a Rainy Day🌦

Along with a few incredible pieces of rain-focused art to give you a burst of inspiration, we’d like to share a few fun crafts that are perfect to try on a rainy day.   Let us know if you decide to give one of these projects a whirl!

Paint a Plant Pot with Acrylics: Many of us adorn our spaces with plants, but have you ever tried sprucing up the pots in which they live?  This tutorial from the Artful Grimmer is a perfect way to add a special touch to your home with very few materials needed!

Experiment with a different shape of Canva #1s: Sometimes fun projects can be as simple as trying a new shaped Canva #1s! This great idea is from Montmarte: “Create something new on a different shape or try creating something using another tool. Experiment using a palette knife, the end of a brush, or even your hands! Rainy days are great for playing about and discovering new ways of creating.”

Update a mug with ceramic paints: If you’re anything like me, you have a surplus of coffee mugs lying around that could use a facelift.  This tutorial is as simple as grabbing some ceramic paints, acrylic paints, or paint markers, and creating a masterpiece on your mug!
