Be The Beat

The Military Sisterhood Initiative is celebrating the monthly theme of “Heart Happy” this month. Today, we’re excited to share an article put out by the American Heart Association titled “Be the Beat.”
This article features a playlist featuring songs that are the appropriate beats per minute to do CPR. According to the article, Black and Hispanic individuals are much less likely to receive help from a bystander when experiencing cardiac arrest. By educating more of the public on how to administer CPR, the hope is that anyone and everyone will be able to receive the help they need when in an emergency situation. The American Heart Association has a goal of making sure that at least one person in every household knows how to perform CPR. Songs that are best for administering CPR are between 100-120 beats per minute.
Here are some facts about CPR and cardiac events:
Performing CPR correctly following a cardiac event, can double or triple the likelihood of someone surviving.
Nearly 3 out of 4 cardiac arrests that happen outside the hospital, happen at home.
About 90% of those that experience an out-of-hospital heart attack die.
This playlist on Spotify lists all the songs featured in the article, as well as many others.
