Last Sunday, Challenge America wrapped up the 4th COVID-19 Maker Challenge via Zoom. This closing ceremony consisted of team presentations, a brilliant musical performance, as well as an award ceremony.

Friday, August 21st marked the kickoff of Challenge America’s 4th COVID-19 Maker Challenge. With over 70+ attendees on Zoom, this event was definitely one for the books. This 4th Maker Challenge focuses on innovations for in-home caregivers.

Earlier today, Challenge America earned the 2019 Platinum GuideStar Nonprofit Profile Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information. By sharing metrics that highlight its progress, Challenge America is helping donors move beyond simplistic ways of nonprofit evaluation such as overhead ratios.

Imagine your world, your existence, shrinking out of control. It starts one day when getting out of bed seems impossible, which stretches to two, then three. Leaving the house becomes a battle, a fierce tug-of-war with your mind as fear and anxiety settle in, ever so gradually tightening its grip. Your independence wanes and the walls start closing in as you stop seeing friends and family, stop leaving the house. Until eventually, your world grinds to a halt and you find yourself in the prison created by the internal battle with your past.

Formed in 2017, the Military Sisterhood Initiative (MSI) has created a community of women Veterans, offering them a way to share those experiences with those who can truly relate with what it means to be a woman in the service.

Challenge America’s CAMVETS program starts and ends with our Veteran participants, placing them front and center in creating solutions as they lead the product development while working side by side with their Maker teammates. In order to truly regain independence and control, these Veterans need solutions that are built for them - and that’s exactly what CAMVETS aims to do.

Challenge America is gearing up for the biannual Challenge America: Makers for Veterans (CAMVETS) program this fall in Cleveland, OH.

The new season is a great reason to make and keep resolutions. Whether it’s eating right or cleaning out the garage, here are some tips for making and keeping resolutions.

12 Veterans will participate in the retreat, designed specifically for Veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress or traumatic brain injury. 

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), will showcase Challenge America and its Israeli partner, Restart, during its annual Policy Conference, March 24-26, 2019.  

Challenge America, VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System, and Cleveland Clinic Innovations Kick off their Makers For Veterans Program to Create Innovative Solutions for Seven Injured Veterans 

Challenge America: Makers for Veterans (CAMVETS) signature event is a 3-day intensive makeathon where teams of designers, engineers, and other experts (Solution Makers) work together to create innovative solutions to the specific challenge of their injured Veteran team member (Challenge Knower).

Challenge America is honored to be the recipient of 25 guitars from the Heartstrings Foundation, which will be gifted to Veteran Music Therapy Retreat participants. 

This spring we will launch Challenge America: Makers for Veterans (CAMVETS). This program brings together teams of engineers, designers, and software developers to create innovative solutions to the unmet needs of their veteran teammates. Many of these solutions will undergo further development, allowing a solution designed for one veteran to go on to benefit many.
