About:
I served as an Intelligence Analyst within the US Army from 2001-2005. I utilize art as a way to "escape" and to keep my mind busy from intrusive thoughts.

This painting represents hope. I utilized my daughter for this painting because she tends to put a smile on my face even during the worst of times. Hopefully, her energy and love depicted within this painting can crack a smile on someone else's face as well.
What inspires you to create art?:
Family
What part of your life has benefited the most from your creative pursuits?:
My mind as well as my family has benefited the most from my creative pursuits. I utilize art as a way to escape from episodes of depression and anger.
Is it important for you to challenge yourself in your art? Tell us why or why not!:
It is always important to challenge yourself within art. Everyday is a new day to learn and create to get better at your craft or to tell your story in a better format.
What is your process or ritual to get your creativity flowing?:
Usually, my ritual involves studying art techniques, color theories/harmonies all while listening to some sort of music (jazz, classical, Otis Redding etc). This process gets the juices flowing to create something epic!
What does CAVARTS mean to you?:
CAVARTS allows veterans a platform to share as well as meet other Veterans within the art community. CAVARTS is one of a few outlets, for Veterans, that help give us a voice.
Our monthly theme is New Beginnings, but Jason submitted this earlier this year when we were celebrating Art and Soul. Here’s what he had planned:

Keep pushing your creative pursuits. You never know who your art may touch and heal.
